Team Human Settlements visited flood-stricken uMshwathi Local Municipality to assess progress of interventions implemented to assist affected households. Last week, and recent heavy rainfall caused significant damage to infrastructure and properties. According to the latest report, three people were washed away, with one fatality confirmed, while others are still missing. Morenthan 100 households have been affected. Human Settlements Minister Thembi Simelane, together with KZN MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma and His Worship Mayor Mandla Zondi, conducted an oversight visit to the uMshwathi Local Municipality following the recent heavy rains that displaced several families. Interventions are underway to accelerate relocation processes and rebuild partially damaged infrastructure.
