Waiting lists are locally driven initiative and in each municipality the waiting period differs. Housing development normally takes place within a planned and prioritised process where the local conditions dictate what area should receive assistance first. You must also remember that housing development takes time normally at least two years before a house in a new area is ready for occupation. We are trying our best to speed up the delivery rate.
You must be in the market looking for a house and should be able to secure a home loan / bond as it is a requirement to access the FLISP subsidy.
You have already purchased a property which has been transferred into your name with effect from 01 April 2012, 01 April 2014 or 28 July 2018 provided you meet the requirements of the respective policy revisions.

The Social Housing Subsidies are not given to tenants, but to the Socila Housing Institute(SHI) that constructs and manages social housing (hence the name Institutional Subsidy).

Beneficiaries of Mazakhele Township housing project in Umuziwabantu Local Municipality in Ugu District Municipality in southern KwaZulu-Natal had their security of tenure of their housing properties was affirmed on Tuesday 20 February 3024. This followed the handing over of the 299 title deeds in a lively ceremony officiated by Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Pam Tshwete together with the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works Sipho “KK” Nkosi and Umuziwabantu Local Municipality Mayor Councillor Siboniso Zungu.. Earlier on before the title deed hand over ceremony, Deputy Minister Tshwete and her entourage conducted an Operation Siyahlola on two rural housing projects namely Cluster 6 Rural Housing Project in Ward 10 and Cluster 1 Rural Housing Project in Ward 4 where they also handed over two houses to two beneficiaries in the two respective projects.
