Waiting lists are locally driven initiative and in each municipality the waiting period differs. Housing development normally takes place within a planned and prioritised process where the local conditions dictate what area should receive assistance first. You must also remember that housing development takes time normally at least two years before a house in a new area is ready for occupation. We are trying our best to speed up the delivery rate.
You must be in the market looking for a house and should be able to secure a home loan / bond as it is a requirement to access the FLISP subsidy.
You have already purchased a property which has been transferred into your name with effect from 01 April 2012, 01 April 2014 or 28 July 2018 provided you meet the requirements of the respective policy revisions.

A notice will be published in your local newspaper calling for potential beneficiaries to apply for the advertised vacant sites. Application forms will be obtainable from the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Human Settlements website

The Social Housing Subsidies are not given to tenants, but to the Socila Housing Institute(SHI) that constructs and manages social housing (hence the name Institutional Subsidy).

Today Friday the 1st of March 2024 witnessed an Operation Siyahlola Programme and three house hand overs in Mandeni Local Municipality in Ilembe District Municipality on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works Sipho "KK" Nkosi together with Mandeni Local Municipality Mayor Councillor Thabani Mdlalose, Councillors Mdletshe and Magwaza jointly officiated at the hand overs of houses at the Inyoni Integrated Residential Programme Project (IRDP) and at KwaSithebe Rural Housing Project in Wards 10,17 and 18 to three beneficiaries. In addition the MEC and the Mayoral entourage also conducted an Operation Siyahlola on a new development within the Inyoni IRDP Project where a new Community Residential Units (CRU) housing project with an anticipated 600 units is being constructed. the remaining 440 sites will be used for 300 First Home Finance beneficiaries as well as about 140 Serviced Sites.
